Caroline Gordon (1895-1981) was from Kentucky and closely associated with the Southern Agrarians.  She is widely regarded as one of the foremost American novelists of the twentieth century.


Aleck Maury, Sportsman, is regarded as Caroline Gordon’s masterpiece, a classic American novel.  Based in part on her father, the book tells the epic story of one man’s entire  life.  Aleck Maury was a teacher of classics whose real life was spent in devotion to hunting and fishing, a very Southern story.
