11.04.03 Faulkner, William, The Unvanquished, published in 1934

The Unvanquished is Faulkner’s War between the States novel,  picturing dramatically and movingly the experiences of the people black and white, of Yoknapatawpha during the War and the Political Reconstruction that followed.  Probably the first place to start for a beginning Faulkner reader.
