11.04.01 Foote, Shelby, Shiloh: A Novel, published in 1952.
Shelby Foote is best known for his epic and classic three-volume The Civil War: A Narrative. Before he began the thirty years he devoted to that work, he published this novel, Shiloh, which is a vivid recreation of the battle through the first-person narratives of participants on both sides. As always with Foote, General Bedford Forrest looms large in the story.
The book has been reprinted several times, including a paperback edition and is readily available.
