The Library of Southern Literature was prepared by leading Southern scholars of the time, including editors Edwin Anderson Alderman (1861-1931) and Joel Chandler Harris (1848-1908). This large encyclopedia of 16 volumes, published between 1906 and 1913, contains vast information about and introduction to Southern writers. Writers of all types are included and each is given a short biography and a sample from his or her works. This is an encyclopedia of much almost forgotten Southern culture.
