Notes Concerning the Author
Clyde N. Wilson is well known to students of Southern Culture and the War Between the States. Formerly a Professor of History at the University of South Carolina, Dr. Wilson lives in Columbia, South Carolina and continues to write and compile former writings into books of related essays. That is the case in his latest publication, The Yankee Problem. He is a founder of the Society of Independent Southern Historians and the Abbeville Institute.
The back of this brief, 103-page booklet of essays states, in part, “We do not have an economic problem, a race problem, a class problem, a gender problem, a toilet access problem, a drug problem, a gun problem, or any other ideological or social problem at the root of America’s dysfunctional anti-culture . . . we have a Yankee problem!” That about summarizes the philosophy behind this collection of essays, all previously published in noteworthy journals. The book is broken down into 11 essays. All worthy of reading.
