Robert Chester Ruark (1915—1965) was a native of North Carolina, well-known in his time as a newspaper columnist, world traveler, and for his books on Africa, the best known of which is Something of Value.
Abstract.
The Old Man and the Boy is a classic Southern tale of a boy, in coastal North Carolina, learning from his grandfather about hunting, fishing, responsibility, respect, and justice. There is a 1961 sequel, The Old Man’s Boy Grows Older.
