Our Review
An eloquent memoir written by a native of New England, the son of a clergyman, and a graduate of Yale law school who served throughout the war in the artillery of the Army of Northern Virginia in defense of his adopted State of Virginia. The author gives an intelligent account of the battles and campaigns in which he served, and gives lively and admirable descriptions of the officers and men of that army, from the Commander-in-chief to the stalwart soldier in the ranks.
