05.18.03 Neese, George M., Three Years in the Confederate Horse Artillery. Published in 1911.

Our Review

A most eloquent memoir/diary written by a gunner in the Stuart Horse Artillery. Vivid and poetic descriptions of battles and daily life on campaign are given, as well as cogent philosophical observations on the war and events surrounding it. Includes an account of Sheridan’s burning of the Shenandoah Valley, and of the author’s capture and imprisonment at Point Lookout.
