05.17.01 Jones, Rev. J. William, Personal Reminiscences of General Robert E. Lee, Published in 1875

Our Review

Biography of Lee written by a Chaplain in the Confederate Army, and later a minister in Lexington, Virginia, at the time of General Lee’s Presidency of Washington College. He was a personal friend and great admirer of Lee and his Christian character. The work includes Lt. Gen. Jubal Early’s “Lee Memorial Address,” delivered at Washington and Lee College, January 19, 1872. It is one of the earliest authoritative and comprehensive accounts of Lee’s campaigns during the war.
