Our Review

In 1989 Dr. Kibler bought a dilapidated plantation in his native  Newberry County, South Carolina, and began restoring the house, gardens, and natural  flora.  In the process he began to discover  the history of the place and the Hardy family who had settled it in 1786.  The result was Our Fathers’ Fields, a beautiful account of a Southern place and  two hundred years of  agrarian life on the place.  Shelby Foote wrote that this classic “brings us home to who we are by showing us where we came from.”
