02.08.06 Dunning, William Archibald, Reconstruction: Political and Economic, 1865-1877, published in 1907

We have listed William Archibald Dunning’s book on Political Reconstruction primarily because he was so influential in guiding the method of historiography of important students.¬† Standing alone, without recognition of his contribution as a leader in the teaching of historians, his Reconstruction: Political and Economic would be considered “a poor read and not a very useful book and not really Southern.”
