22.04.01 : Intruder in the Dust, released in 1949
Intruder in the Dust was released in 1949. Perhaps the best rendering of William Faulkner’s work in film and a realistic portrayal of Southern life in the early 20th century. An old lady (Elizabeth Patterson) and two boys go to great lengths to save a proud black man from a wrongful murder charge.
