James Warner Bellah (1899-1976) was a native of New York and a prolific and popular author of Westerns, many of which became movies and television series.

Abstract.

The Valiant Virginians is a collection of stories about three Confederate cavalrymen that capture well the spirit and atmosphere of the characters.  The book was made into a not particularly notable television series called, “The Americans,” which ran in 17 episodes in 1961.
